Young Founders School is much more than what you think it is. On the cover, it’s a free course that gives students the chance to experience what being an entrepreneur is. But after attending the course (in my case multiple times), I’ve come to discover that it is much more than that. Here, talented students from all sorts of backgrounds come together to develop skills they never knew they had, skills that aren’t taught within school and skills that are crucial in our modern society. They share ideas, merge ideas and come up with the most fascinating business proposals I’ve ever seen. At times, it may be overwhelming. But overall, this experience has truly been a turning point in my life and has changed the way I approach challenges in life.

From the YFS Bootcamp, my biggest takeaway was teamwork and collaboration. During the entire process, from the first talk to the final pitch, the team really is the most important component in getting things done. I would also say that going out there to pitch and to talk with others is also one of the most important things you can do, as you never know what opportunities you might unlock.

The YFS Bootcamp provides a brand new experience for our students outside the classroom. They had a valuable opportunity to work with their mentors to come up with creative and feasible start-up ideas. This exposure to the start-up world can surely help shape the students’ career path. What’s more, through the bootcamp, our students had the privilege to attend international conferences like RISE and Alibaba Jumpstarter Event. They explored the essence of entrepreneurial spirit through interacting with owners of start-up businesses. The YFS Bootcamp is clearly an enjoyable and worthwhile event for our students.

It was incredible to see the kids go from brainstorming everyday problems to solve to a pitch deck with little previous startup experience in just a weekend.

Learning about entrepreneurship is a key skill that all students should acquire. Young Founders School is a great place to start on this journey.

The kids appear disorganized on the surface. But when you view them as a single entity, their behavior is efficient and effective. They stand shoulder to shoulder and work energetically together. They move quickly, spotting problems and offering help. They try things, take risks, and notice outcomes, which guides them toward effective solutions.
